HTC Puccini Android ROM being ported to Flyer other tablets

first_imgThe HTC Puccini 10″ Android tablet has yet to be confirmed by the company, but there’s been no shortage of information floating around about it. A few months ago, screenshots showing the Puccini tablet’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb ROM in action leaked to the web before it launched — or was even announced by HTC. Now, a dump of that ROM has been found on a filesharing site.As is typically the case when a new Android tablet ROM is dumped and shared, community developers at XDA have already started digging through the ROM to see if it can be modified and flashed to other tablets that are already available. One potential target is the HTC Flyer, the Puccini’s 7-inch cousin that went on sale early this summer. Hardware differences among tablets mean that it’ll take a while, but the success record of the contributors at XDA is stellar — so don’t be surprised if the Puccini ROM is up and running on another tablet in the coming days.Once the community ports the Puccini’s software to an existing tablet, we’ll have a nearly complete look at what it will bring to the table. Back in May, purported specs had already leaked as well. The Puccini was said to be running the MSM8660 SOC with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and Adreno 220 graphics, a 1280×800 pixel 10.1″ display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash (and a front-facing cam as well). It’s also believed that the Puccini will support the HTC Magic Pen, like its more portable predecessor. The Puccini will also be arriving on U.S. shores packing LTE hardware — and heading for AT&T’s shiny, new network.More at Liliputing and Engadgetlast_img
