Developer Equitrans raises cost of contested Mountain Valley Pipeline to $5.8 billion

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享The Roanoke Times:The Mountain Valley Pipeline has once again pushed its completion date back and the project cost up.Equitrans Midstream Corp., the lead partner in a joint venture of five energy companies that has faced widespread environmental problems while building the natural gas pipeline, made the announcement Tuesday.Rather than completing construction early next year as planned, the company is now targeting a full in-service date “during the second half of 2021,” a news release stated. The cost, which was estimated to be $3.7 billion when construction started in 2018, now stands at between $5.8 billion and $6 billion. The latest increase was attributed largely to the more costly task of continuing construction through the winter, which Mountain Valley plans to do in order to make up time lost to legal challenges.Despite the latest setback, Equitrans chairman and CEO Thomas Karam remained bullish on the project during a conference call to discuss third quarter results with financial analysts. “Our confidence has not changed because of these expected challenges, at all,” he said.Pipeline opponents, however, were encouraged by the latest news. They hope a sustained legal attack will eventually force Mountain Valley to cancel the project — as the Atlantic Coast Pipeline did in July — and help turn the tide to renewable energy.Although the project is two years behind schedule, it has far more pipe in the ground than Atlantic Coast did when it decided to fold.[Laurence Hammack]More: Another delay, cost increase for the Mountain Valley Pipeline Developer Equitrans raises cost of contested Mountain Valley Pipeline to $5.8 billionlast_img read more

RAMELTON DEMANDS REMOVAL OF ‘SEX OFFENDERS’ FROM AREA

first_imgAngry parents and community leaders in Ramelton have called on the authorities to ‘remove’ sex offenders whom they say have been relocated to the area recently.
There is disquiet in Ramelton over the arrival of sex offenders into the town. The community leaders say the sex offenders are not from Ramelton and should not have been rehoused there. The Tirconail Tribune reports that parents only learned of the development through ‘third party sources’ and have expressed shock that this was allowed to happen without prior notice or consultation. A community spokesman said the town is shocked that this has been allowed to happen with over 500 children at school and at play every day of the week.“We’ve been badly let down by the Gardai and we feel this development places more responsibilities and more risks on parents and their families,” said one source.Parents say they cannot understand the logic of any authority in locating these offenders to another town or village, some twenty miles from their former residences. The community has contacted the Tribune to highlight their concerns and say the response from the Gardai has been very poor. Following these concerns, the newspaper referred the issue to the Garda Press Office and the HSE.The Gardai said it would not be appropriate for them to discuss details concerning any individuals.Meanwhile, Tusla, the Child and Family Agency said: “The primary responsibility for the management of convicted sex offenders lies with An Garda Síochána and the Probation Service.”The also said: “In relation to your query, Tusla is actively involved in the multiagency system to ensure the effective management of risk to the community posed by convicted sex offenders. “Neither of these agencies would comment on community claims paedophiles have now been relocated to Ramelton without any warning given to concerned parents. Community leaders said they believe that both the Gardai and the HSE have a duty of care to all communities in these situations and everyone in Ramelton is shocked by this latest turn of events.A Gardai spokesman said: “In general terms, the obligations of convicted sex offenders are outlined in the Sex Offenders Act 2001. Part 2 of the Act sets out the notification requirements of a person who has obligations under the Act. They must, within seven days, of becoming subject to the notification requirements (e.g. release) notify their name, date of birth and home address to An Garda Síochána. They must notify An Garda Síochána of any change to their name or address within seven days of that change. There is ongoing communication and liaison between the Divisional Inspectors and the Sex Offenders Management and Intelligence Unit. The nominated Divisional Inspectors are responsible for managing sex offenders in their respective Divisions and putting in place a plan to manage the risk posed by such offenders. Members of An Garda Síochána located throughout the country have been trained in a risk assessment matrix which is a statistically derived risk classification process intended for individuals convicted of a sex offence. Tusla said that if anyone has a concern about a child they should contact the local Tusla social work office or An Garda Síochána.  Any child protection or welfare referral made to Tusla is dealt with in accordance with Children First.RAMELTON DEMANDS REMOVAL OF ‘SEX OFFENDERS’ FROM AREA was last modified: March 5th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:donegalGardaiRameltonSex offendersTirconail Tribunelast_img read more

The struggles of the 2015 Ohio wheat crop

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest After a late planting, slow start and less that ideal late winter conditions, the 2015 Ohio wheat crop has had its fair share of challenges. Now add to that having to wait in the field for weeks after intended harvest dates due to over-saturated fields. Jeremy Goings still has some wheat to get to and hopes that dockage will be manageable and straw will be useable once the dust settles. The Ohio Ag Net’s Ty Higgins visited Goings Farm on July 21st and talks with Jeremy about the prospect for his wheat and how this year will effect his 2016 wheat decisions.last_img read more

Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast December 13, 2018

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest I think we get away with another 2 days with no precipitation over Ohio. Today definitely. We may be dealing with a bit of leftover precipitation in NE Ohio this morning, but generally, the state looks pretty good. Some clouds were around yesterday, and we wont rule out some today, but nothing significant. Tonight and tomorrow we see rains starting to work into Indiana, but they seem to die as they move east. WE wont rule out a bit of moisture in western or NW Ohio, but think your Friday looks mostly dry too, at least over a majority of the state. That will change tomorrow night. Thick clouds and well organized precipitation pushes into SW Ohio tomorrow night, and then continues to spread across the state through the overnight, through Friday and finally leaves early Sunday morning. This moisture is fairly consistent through that entire period, but generally stays over the southern half of the state. We look for precipitation through the period to run from half to 1.5″ with 80% coverage south of I-70. North of there little to no rain, with a dry outlook completely north of US 30. This rain action will be streaming west to east hitting the same areas over and over…which is leading to our higher rain totals. Everything should be done by mid morning Sunday.  The map at right shows rain totals through Sunday morning. We turn dry in all areas from Sunday afternoon through next Wednesday. High pressure will be in control, with 2 high pressure centers sliding across the state in that period. Temps will not fall off that much, and we should stay near normal through midweek next week. Moisture is back for the second half of next week, as scattered showers arrive Thursday, likely around midday or early afternoon. At this time we are expecting .1”-.5” rain potential with coverage at 80% of the state. This system may skew a slight focus on the northern half of the state, but honestly it’s a bit early to finesse the forecast that much. We will watch it. The low tracks across NW Indiana, which puts all of Ohio in the warm (south flow) sector, keeping all precipitation rain. Action should be done by next Friday morning. Dry but turning colder behind that system next Friday, which can lead to a chance of very light snow next Saturday, the 22nd. This will not be enough snow to really talk much about a white Christmas yet. The extended period is relatively dry, especially through Christmas. Models are split on temps, but we think a move to colder air for the week of Christmas is likely, cold enough to support snow, if any moisture were to materialize. Right now, we are going to keep a dry pattern through most of the 11-16 day forecast window, with our only system in that period coming for Friday the 28th. A south flow ahead of the strong low would bring warm air in, enough to at least have the moisture start as rain, and we could see .25”-.75” of precipitation out of that event.last_img read more

Chatroullete Expands to Location and Channels

The service is adding Localroulette, for location-specific chats, and Channelroulette, for specific topics.Given the surge of interest in location-based apps, the choice to create a geolocating chat is not surprising. The utility of the themed channels is a bit less easy to grasp once you see what’s there. Perhaps not shockingly, given the reputation of the service as being a bit on the gamey side at the best of times, the number one channel is “sex.” The next in line include “gayteen,” “girls” and “milfs.” Notably absent are “19th century French symbolist poets” and “chiasmus.” Since you can, apparently, create a new channel by adding a subdomain, we’ll try to rectify the obsession with gettin’ it on by creating a topic channel for a passionate but neglected group: Those who wish to engage in spirited debate over whether Robert Kagan or Francis Fukuyama is cooler. We don’t think it will come as too much of a surprise when “Robert vs. Francis” overtakes “milfs.” Do you? Read more Chatroulette coverage from ReadWriteWeb. curt hopkinslast_img read more
